Hey Jo That one looks very promising and with the added benefit of a garden! Definitely worth a look round, and the area, at least on the face of it, seems quite acceptable. A leafy suburb by the looks of it What do you have to do next if that one's right for you? I'm sure they must take account of your disabilities, surely that should come before age restrictions?! Do let us know how you go on? I'm always available for house hunting!!!! Lyn x

Thanks folks I've put a bid in for that bungalow, along with 16 other folks it seems. As far as my disabilities go, Rose took down all the details, including the ops I've had already and those I have ahead, and contacts for supporting evidence, but the medical assessment is done by a separate section/company so any medical points won't be added to my housing entitlement for about 6 weeks, which may open up other opportunities. I'll keep looking each day, and see what else comes along :) 2012 Fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RoboJo

Hoping and hoping that they take into consideration all the nonsense and misery you are enduring at your present place. GP may give you a supporting letter?

This one has appeared on the list today.. How lovely is this one? It won't let me bid on it (age restriction), but I've emailed the housing officer ;) 2012 Fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RoboJo

Whoa Jo this is a fab one! How lovely is that, very modern, easily managed garden and very clean looking. Wouldn't it be good if they'd overlook the age thing and take into account your disability instead. This would be ideal. Fingers crossed for a positive response!!! Lyn x

Just had an email from Rose, the housing officer... Seems I'm wasting my time looking for a move for three months Quote:Hi Joanne
There is an age restriction but your disability would be taken into account but this would be a decision by the medical team, unfortunately there is a 12 week back log with medical's at the moment, therefore you will not be able to bid on properties with this age restriction.
However I will ask the question with regards to your particular case, I will respond to you next week, I'm out all day on visits today so will be unable to ask this question.and give you an answer today.
Regards

Such blooming red tape! Three months ?! Why don't they just pull their fingers out, get the backlog sorted and then they'd be on top of it all! That way they'd avoid all the complaining done by folks who are in the queue. After all, backlogs only have to be cleared the once then things should be ticketyboo! Still, Rose does seem to be working for you and I feel sure she will get back as promised. Fingers crossed, but do keep looking just in case .... Lyn x

Hi folks. An update on the continuing stooory of... On Thursday last week I attended a local tasking meeting at the local church, this is where the police, local councillors and members of council staff sit and take questions/problems from the residents. The issue of the drugs was brought up and that they continue to monitor the situation, they have visited a few times in the last few weeks but have been unable to gain entry despite the druggies being at home. After the meeting I had a chat with the WPC and gave her my phone number and said if ever they couldn't get in to buzz me or give me a call. This weekend has been a nightmare, loud music thumping away for hours, arguments, doors slamming, at gone midnight waking me up 3 nights in a row. I burst into tears a few times, stress levels through the roof, I've gone from almost eating all day, to eating nothing another as I couldn't be bothered to do any food, pain and stiffness returns, which I've not had in a while. I vowed to make an app with my GP to tell her about it. I phoned my GP this morning, only to find she's away at the moment, but got in to see the lovely doctor covering for her. I told her how I'd been over the weekend, she asked for more info, how long it's been going on etc. She then said she would write a letter to the manager at the council as not only was this affecting my RA, but she feels that it's affecting my mental health to the point of depression. I headed to the Pharmacy (and got them to have some nras leaflets) :) Then headed to get my shopping. On getting home, I'd barely been in the house a few minutes and not put the shopping away when the phone rings. It was the lady who has taken over my case after Ian has left. She was concerned that the council ahd done nothing in all this time, and she needs copies of my diary sheets, and is happy to serve an enforcement notice on them almost immediately. So feeling a bit brighter after her call I pop the shopping away and the door buzzer goes, I wasn't expecting anyone so at first thought it was on of the druggie's clients, so looked out of the window to see 2 police officers complete with mountain bikes, apparently they have got wise to them looking out the window looking for a police car, so came on a pushbike. As I hadn't got to the door in time the entry timer had expired, then the phone rang and it was one of the officers, I went and let them in. They came into my flat, leaving the bikes hidden under the stairs. They were here for about 20 minutes, really nice guys, once of them really upset at what RA is and what it does.. said he'd never moan about his knee's using the bike again. They took some of the information I'd collected about the regular 2 minute visitors and said they would call on them upstairs, but not today. They also said they know of this family (with a grin) but he wouldn't say any more than that. :) As they went into the communal entrance BINGO! the place stank of drugs.. it couldn't have been timed better, they nodded and gave me a grin, whispering they'll be back to see them tomorrow. These neighbours really are giving me all the best evidence at the right time, the block stank of drugs when Rose the housing officer came.. now this, and the numerous recordings I've made over the weekend of the music and shouting etc. I still feel vulnerable, but today's events have made me feel optimistic :) sorry for the long post, but as they say it's good to get things off your chest, and I can't think of a greater bunch of folks. :) BIG Hugs to you all for your support on this issue. Dear Jo,
this is awful that you are still having to put up with this. What a dreadful weekend you have had.It goes without saying that you need to keep eating. I am glad that the officers came just at the right time and that 'something' will happen but that is not the complete answer to your problem. You need out of there and quickly, a flat is not the place for you. Perhaps a word with the police about how you fear retaliation if 'something' happens and also to the council lady , Rose I think you said.
Sending you loads of best wishes.
Eleanor x

Hi Jo I can't believe this ongoing mess! Thank goodness the police have now appeared at the right time hopefully strengthening your case for a prompt move. The stress this is causing you and the effect on the RA is substantial and I really feel for you. No-one should be living in position where they feel that the only way to get a little peace and quiet is to go out! You certainly shouldn't be made to feel vulnerable and I am in awe of your resilience. I'm sure I couldn't live in those conditions although I do appreciate you have no other choice in the matter. As Eleanor suggests, could you perhaps try to move this forward on the grounds of mental health, yours?! It really is a poor show; in another 10 weeks time who knows what your state of health will be like after all this. Thoughts are with you Jo, try to keep smiling Lyn x

Hi folks my worst fears seem to have materialised. At 9pm this evening there was a lot of commotion at the secure door at the front of the block, it sounded like it was being kicked in. shortly after they had managed to get it open and started kicking on the door of the flat above. this went on for a few mins before a grey golf parked outside sounded the horn, they went and shortly after the police arrived. I had got some audio of it taking place. claims they had a gun too, The mother knocked my door a while after asking if i'd let them in, i categorically told her I hadn't, that I don't let anyone in especially at 9pm I made and gave a copy of the recording to the police officer outside the block, while on my way I overheard the mother claiming to those their that I had let them in, so I suppose that story will now spread to the other scummy families they do business with. . I've been dreading something like this, and now it's happened, I'm on the phone to the council first thing Something about the whole incident seems strange though, as if it was staged, even if it isn't it's not something I want to be living with around me. 2012 Fundraising for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RoboJo
